Gov. Seyi Makinde was present at the Oyo State Tax Stakeholders Summit jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and Oyo State Internal Revenue Service, yesterday.
The Governor during his keynote address talked about the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) Roadmap which will facilitate Economic Prosperity in Oyo State.
He also made it known that one of the key plan of the current administration is to increase the Internally Generated Revenue without an increase in tax rate.
He added that the Government is working on faster platforms which will ease the payment of tax and issuance of tax receipt in the State.
He charged the good people of Oyo State to be open to new ideas and creative ways which the Government can use for the expansion of Oyo State IGR.
But Will Usher in An Era of Progress and Prosperity’’-Makinde
The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has stated that his administration will not only confront poverty, but will usher in an era of progress and prosperity.
He stated this while speaking through the acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Mrs. Olubisi Adegoke at the Opening Ceremony of the Orientation Programme organized for Stakeholders and Beneficiaries of Public Workfare a component of Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in the State.
According to him ‘’ I was reliably informed that the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) is a Social Safety Nets(SSN) initiative that builds on existing structures and delivery mechanisms of government with the aim of improving its processes. YESSO is piloting a new approach in poverty alleviation efforts by establishing a Single Register (SR) to address the challenge of identification of the poor and vulnerable”.
Governor Makinde pointed out that his administration has set forth policies which will tackle infrastructure deficits, enable an efficient Health Sector, Improve Security, Youth Empowerment, Social Inclusion and Protection.
He reiterated that the State Government would continue to partner with the World Bank in the area of sustainable developmental projects and Youth Employment opportunities. He also charged the beneficiaries to comport themselves during the period of the programme.
In her address, the State Coordinator, Oyo State Operation Coordinating Unit (OYOSOCU) Mrs. Laide Lasisi appreciated the Governor for his approval of the Orientation Programme to meet the World Bank’s time line, adding that the database of the poor and vulnerable is available at the Oyo State Operation Coordinating Unit (OYOSOCU) office for well meaning Nigerians targeting the poor and vulnerable for one assistance or another.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Agency for Youth Development (AYD) Mrs. Airat Adegbola welcomed everyone to the Orientation Programme stating that Youth Empowerment is one of the major cardinal programmes of the new administration in the State which has made the Executive Governor of Oyo State to magnanimously approve the release of Four Million, Eight Hundred and Forty- Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty –One Naira, Forty-Five Kobo (#4,844,931.45k) only being the required balance needed on the State Contribution for 10% stipend payment and provision of Five Thousand (5,000) Kits/Uniform.
