Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) was conceived when the Federal Government approached the World Bank for financial assistance to tackle youth unemployment in the country in the year 2011. The support operation aims to fill the targetting and payment system gaps noticed in interventions of the past.

YESSO supports existing institutions to help strengthen their capacities for poverty alleviation. Twenty (20) States of the Federation including Oyo State took part in the design of the Support Operation with the Federal Government. Interestingly, only seven (7) States including Oyo State were able to meet the criteria for participation in the programme at the inception in May, 2013. (Sixteen (16) States now on ground). (YES – O qualified the State for the Operation in 2013).
